Thematic Garden 1: The Birds park, France

I had an incredible opportunity to embark on a thrilling adventure this summer at a breathtaking Birds park nestled near the enchanting Lyon City. It was truly an awe-inspiring experience, as I know that France is home to numerous parks that encapsulate the essence of its rich culture. The phenomenon of thematics parks is ingrained in the hearts of many cities in France, and the bird garden I visited was a true testament to this. Being an ardent naturalist explorer, I couldn't resist extending a warm invitation to my family, and together, we embarked on an unforgettable day of exploration and wonder at the incredible bird sanctuary.

HISTORY

In the spring of 2018, the publication of two alarming scientific reports unquestionably confirmed the disturbing acceleration of bird population degradation in France and around the world. Faced with this troubling and concerning realization, the Parc des Oiseaux made the bold decision to strengthen its efforts in favor of endangered species. Thus, the specialized Reproduction Center - PROGRAMME BARNABE - was born, dedicated to fully devoting itself to the conservation of three emblematic European species: the Monk Vulture, the majestic Bearded Vulture, and the elegant Little Bustard. This revolutionary project shines a ray of hope for these endangered species, offering them a chance of survival and the rebuilding of their decimated populations.

The park is not only a great place for leisure and entertainment but also serves as an educational hub, filled with numerous informative spots that shed light on various aspects of birds, their habitats, and ecosystems. Additionally, there are interactive exhibits and guided tours that provide visitors with a hands-on learning experience.

With dedicated areas for playgrounds, theaters, restaurants, and lodges, families can indulge in a multitude of activities throughout the day, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. The theater experience was truly remarkable, transporting us into a world of wonder and excitement. The informative and interactive show captivated our senses as we watched in awe at the stunning display of size, colors, and song from the various birds dancing above us with immense freedom. It was a mesmerizing spectacle that left a lasting impression on both young and old, creating unforgettable memories for the entire family.

THE DESIGN

The Bird Park is a zoological park located in Villars-les-Dombes in the Ain department. The site is listed in the Inventory of Cultural Heritage and was opened in 1970. It is one of the oldest ornithological parks in France and brings together a collection of over 3,000 birds from around the world in a 380-hectare reserve located in the heart of the Dombes region. The park, open to the public, covers an area of 35 hectares within the reserve and welcomes an average of 250,000 visitors per year.

Moreover, the park's clever design revolves around a picturesque lake, strategically placed at its center, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere as visitors stroll along the looping paths that gently encircle it. The serene ambiance of the park makes it a perfect place for relaxation, while also offering endless opportunities for exploration and discovery.
